As a certified Personal Support Worker, I’m ready to help you with the varied needs you or your loved one may have to live a safe, comfortable, and independent life. Whether you are at home, a cottage for a short time, in a retirement home, hospital or somewhere else, I can meet you where you are to assist with any activities of daily living or delegated nursing tasks.
Chickadee Home Care was born in 2020 out of a deep need in the Huntsville, Lake of Bays, Perry, Muskoka Lakes and the Dorset area for qualified private personal support worker services. A Muskokan through and through, I was raised here in Huntsville. I went to southern Ontario and graduated from the PSW program at Conestoga College in 2010. I’ve also completed continuing education in palliative care so that I can best meet the physical, social and spiritual needs of those approaching end-of-life. I’m happy to help anyone in need of PSW services, but I do have a soft spot for the elderly and people of all ages approaching end-of-life.
I’m passionate about my work and am beginning to become more politically involved, reaching out to various politicians, educational institutions, and organizations with the intention of strengthening the PSW profession and availability of care to those living in community settings. My initiatives include conversations in the areas of:
- Available funding for client-managed publicly funded care, such as widening availability of already established programs like the Family Managed Home Care program.
- Encouraging development of more continuing education opportunities directed toward PSWs.
- Encouraging the development of provincial exams and some form of registration so that our vulnerable clients have a way to ensure their caregivers are both
qualified and safe.
